Understanding Flo’s HomeProtect Deductible Guarantee
After many years of work, the initial results from our diverse customer base are in. And, we’ve proved our initial hypothesis: Flo’s proactive technology is dramatically reducing the likelihood of catastrophic water damage in homes across the country! We are so confident in the effectiveness of the Flo System that we’re going to stand behind you, our customer, in an unprecedented way.
As part of the HomeProtect program, we are going to guarantee your homeowner’s insurance deductible for water damage. I’m really excited to share the specific details of this program with you.
I’m a deep believer in transparency and trust. You should know what you’re getting and not getting from this program. So aside from the terms and conditions our lawyers approved, here’s some plain speak from me:
Flo’s responsibility is to help protect your home from catastrophic water damage. Your responsibility is to take full advantage of Flo’s enhanced offerings in HomeProtect and actually use them to maintain your water system. If you fix the issues that Flo points out and your home still suffers catastrophic water damage, then you shouldn’t have to pay out of pocket; that’s on Flo. That means Flo will reimburse you for your out-of-pocket homeowner’s insurance deductible (up to the cap).
But to avoid confusion here’s some things Flo won’t cover:
water damage caused by anything other than your home water system. Flo covers your water supply line, so it can’t prevent weather-related floods, rains, sewer backups, your son deciding to water your living room rather than watering the lawn… you get the idea.
water damage that couldn’t have been prevented by Flo. Flo covers things down the water supply line from the installation of the Flo device. So if you install the device after the sink in your garage, and that sink leaks, Flo wasn’t designed to catch that. So please follow the installation guidelines.
water damage that’s not covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy. In order to get reimbursed, you need to actually file a homeowner’s insurance claim, pay out-of-pocket for your deductible, and the claim needs to be covered by your homeowner’s insurance.
water damage that’s not catastrophic. Flo reimburses for your out-of-pocket homeowner’s insurance deductible, not any and all water damage. For example, if your pipe bursts and Flo automatically shuts off the water, but only after water caused $150 of damage to your carpet, Flo won’t reimburse you. Why? In this case, Flo did its job and protected your home from catastrophic water damage that could have happened as a result of the burst pipe.
Now, here are some things you need to ensure to maintain eligibility:
Your Flo system is properly installed, and you maintain homeowner’s insurance
You’ve subscribed your Flo to HomeProtect, you are under product warranty, and your system is online
You’ve enabled all of your Flo alerts and for all levels of leaks
You’ve enabled automatic shutoff of the water, and remotely shut off the water when necessary to minimize damage
Address all alerts (don’t ignore or snooze alerts) and maintain your water system as soon as possible
