The Story of Flo

Say hello to the father and son team behind the Flo by Moen Smart Home Water Security System!
Meet Gabe, the CEO & Henry, the Inventor.
Together, they co-founded Flo Technologies, the company behind what is now the industry-leading smart water security system.
Their passion for preventing loss, one drip at a time, began a little over 10 years ago when the two returned from a family vacation to find their entire home had flooded while they were away.
"We had a catastrophic claim in our own home and it really made an impression on me. Returning home first from a family vacation, I opened the door and it took my eyes 10 seconds to adjust. It was literally raining in the middle of the living room! My dad decided that day that he was going to solve this problem, once and for all." -Gabe
After experiencing such a catastrophic event, they set out to help others avoid a similar fate. Spending countless nights tinkering away in his garage, Henry was able to build the first-of-its-kind water monitoring and leak detection system, changing plumbing forever.
"Plumbing hasn’t changed for generations. Cars have become intelligent, even our toasters are smarter. Yet, one of the most vital parts of our home, the water system, is as dumb as it was two hundred years ago! I set out with my son to solve that." -Henry
The serious water damage and hefty insurance claims process Gabe and Henry experienced was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to their concerns about loss and the subsequent mission to help prevent it.
A mechanical engineer and mathematician by trade, Henry has decades of experience working with industrial plumbing titans such as Calflex and Watts to launch exciting new products in the marketplace. Most notably, his invention of “Flood Safe” has sold over 18 million units to date. In addition to his hands-on experience as an inventor and manufacturer, Henry has served as an expert witness for over a thousand insurance subrogation claim cases.
Back in law school, Gabe served as a Claims Manager for a plumbing manufacturing company with millions of dollars in product liability claims.“ Later in his career, Gabriel experienced first-hand the destruction of such a claim in his parents’ home, the devastating result of a toilet supply line failure.” Prior to co-founding this company with his father, Gabe was the VP of Corporate Operations for an American restaurant chain and an equity partner in a real estate and business law firm located in Beverly Hills.
When Henry approached him with the proprietary technology that would become the Smart Water Shutoff, Gabe leapt at the opportunity to help others avoid the financial and emotional hardship his family had suffered.
