A: The device is complimentary, and there are no ongoing fees. Hippo will even cover a standard installation by Code Blue up to $350, but if there is any additional work required to install the device, you will have to pay the difference. Hippo will let you know ahead of time so you can consider this before getting the device.
Q: When will my home insurance discount be applied?
A: Your smart home discount will go into effect the day after you activate your device. Hippo will send you an email confirmation to let you know the discount has been applied.
Q: What data from the Flo device does Hippo have access to?
A: Hippo only knows if the device is active, so they can apply the discount to your premium.
Q: What happens after I order a Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff?
A: Your device will be shipped to your home, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information. When it arrives, Hippo will send you another email to help you prepare for installation. Code Blue will contact you to schedule your claim-related repair work, and when they arrive, they’ll install your Flo device at the same time.

A: Hippo’s partner, Code Blue will contact you to schedule your claim-related repair work. During the repair work, they will also install your device and make sure it works correctly. If the installation requires additional work and may exceed the $350 subsidy, Hippo will let you know ahead of time so you can decide if installing the device is right for you and your home.

A: The Flo Smart Water Shutoff device requires plumbing work and should be installed by a professional. Hippo’s trusted partners at Code Blue are trained to complete the installation, and they will gladly cover the cost up to $350.
Q: How do I know if my home is compatible to install Flo by Moen?
A: To meet the installation requirements, you need to have the following: an above ground and accessible main water supply line, a main water supply line that is 1.5’’ or smaller, a standard power outlet, a smartphone (iPhone® or Android™) and home Wi-Fi. Hippo’s partner, Code Blue will help to confirm that your home is compatible.
Q: Do I have to order the Flo Smart Water Shutoff through Hippo? Can I get the device from Amazon or other retailers?
A: To get the complimentary device and subsidized installation, you have to order the device through the Hippo Flo website (meetflo.com/hippo-claims) or by phone with a Hippo Customer Care agent. Unfortunately, Hippo can’t reimburse you for the device or installation if you buy the Smart Water Shutoff elsewhere, but you would still be eligible for a discount on your Hippo premium.
